Cooking meeting

Today I'm holding a cooking club "Marry Poppins in the kitchen".
I'm finished preparing today's menu.

Today's main is Beef parties with "Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce". Is it familiar with you? It is the first time to use it for me.
I would skip this menu, because beef parties are not so interesting to me. However the sauce is interesting --- of course I bought it on the Net. And the recipe said "you shouldn't knead the meat."
It is also interesting. When I make beef parties (or Hamburgers are more familiar name in Japan), kneading is Yuki's job.
And I picked some mints from the garden.
We'll boil green places with mints. It is also the first time.
I already prepared for bread and butter pudding, it is waiting for being baked in the oven.

Unfortunately two members who was going to join us cancelled because of illness. So just a person is coming. It's OK. She loves studying English. So I also prepare English learning materials.
This time we'll read the book Mary Poppins in the kitchen only in English.
And of course TANABATA (star festival) is just around the corner. so We'll write our wish on strips of paper.
Since last week , it has been a "star festival week."
The day of star festival is June  7, this Thursday.

I love Worchestershire sauce and always have a bottle of Lea & Perrins in my kitchen. It is quite strong, so a little goes a long way. My husband doesn't like it as much as I do, but I don't like some of the Japanese flavours so we are even!

When I make hamburgers, I try not to mix them too hard. We don't really say knead about hamburger...mostly about bread dough. I think you should be gentle with hamburger. If you squash it into shape too hard the patties aren't very tasty!

Bread and butter pudding sounds good. I sometimes make bread pudding when I have a lot of leftover bread. I love it! (I love rice pudding too, from my childhood, but my husband can't imagine having sweet rice so he won't let me make it ;-)

I hope your party was fun.

A little early, but Happy Tanabata!

Thanks for your comments, Helen. Yes, the club was fun, and beef patties were delicious though they are crude?? What is the suitable word to discribe "boso boso" or not smooth compared with usual Japanese hamburger steaks. However they wee soft.
We had the remain for our breakfast. Yuki seems to enjoy the sauce. Well, how do I use the sauce for other recipes?

I like to use Worchestershire sauce on things like burgers or steaks...I've also used it as a dip, a bit like a yakiniku sauce. It's quite strong, so not everyone likes it! It lasts for a long time in the fridge, so you can keep it for a while.

You can also have a look at the Lea & Perrins Website that I'm putting below. They might have some recipes that you like. Sorry, they are in English!

My husband had a hard time telling me what boso boso was...he thought maybe dry....For a "simple" dish, hamburgers can be difficult!

Thanks, probably , in English, dry. However------ texture, so it is difficult. I think many Japanese like sticky texture--- mochi mochi . Mochi comes from rice cake. So boso boso is a kind of opposite texture from mochi mochi.
And thanks, too. I'll check the site.
